As of Monday (April 22), Oakville dog owners will have to look for somewhere else other than the Sixteen Mile community park to let their best friend get in a run.

The Sixteen Mile Leash-Free Dog Park is now closed as pre-construction work on the expansion of the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex gets underway.

The dog park will be temporarily closed while new volleyball, tennis and pickleball courts are completed. They will open later this summer at a new location at the north end of the Sixteen Mile community park.

In the meantime, local dog owners will be able to take their four-legged friends to a nearby dog park until construction is completed.

Nearby parks include Memorial Park (120 Oak Park Blvrd.), Palermo Park (2345 Dundas St. W.) and Glenashton Park (1051 Glenashton Dr.). Visit the Town of Oakville’s Dog Parks page for additional leash-free parks.
