When and where to drop off hazardous, electronic waste in Burlington

If you have any old paints and stains, household cleaners or old TVs and radios you’re looking to get rid of, this is the weekend to do it.

Halton Region is hosting one of their Special Waste Drop-off Days on Saturday (June 22) in Burlington at 4015 Mainway Drive, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Special waste days are held throughout the year to make it “more convenient” for Halton residents to recycle household and hazardous waste.

“No commercial waste is accepted,” said Halton Region.

Other accepted hazardous waste products accepted include:

  • Acids, solvents, glues computers, modems, monitors
  • Mercury-containing devices
  • Pressurized cylinders less than 20 pounds
  • Pesticides, garden chemicals, fertilizers
  • Medications
  • Aerosols (fully or partially full)
  • Personal care products
  • Sharps (must be in sealed containers)
  • Waste cooking oil
  • Fluorescent lights
  • CFL bulbs (8 maximum per visit)
  • Automotive liquids, oil filters
  • Bleach
  • Pool cleaners
  • batteries

Other acceptable electronic waste includes:

  • Computers, modems, monitors
  • TVs, receivers
  • Stereos and speakers (including vehicle stereos)
  • DVD, VCR & Blue-ray players
  • Cameras/camcorders (including security cameras)
  • Cellphones, home phones
  • Printers, copiers, fax machines
  • Headphones, audio recording equipment
  • Electronic musical instruments
  • PDAs and pagers
  • Printers
  • Projectors, video game devices
  • Drones with audio/visual recording equipment
  • Handheld point-of-sale terminals or devices
  • All peripherals and cables (including charging cables)
